If you were to throw a handful of water balloons into a crowd anywhere in the United States, you would get at least one person with a mental health problem very wet.
And there are a lot of differing points of view when it comes to Mental Health, especially anxiety and depression, and especially in the Christian community — as with most subjects. Some say that it is always a symptom of a deeper, spiritual issue. Some say that it is always caused by a chemical or hormonal imbalance — purely a physical issue. In my own experience, anxiety and depression has both spiritual and physical components. There are times where deepening my walk with God has totally eased my anxiety and depression, and there are times where I needed to be medically proactive and care for the body God has gifted me carefully and intentionally.
Honestly, I think it looks a little bit different for everyone. But what is the same across the board Christian books anxiety this:. Mental health problems like Anxiety and Depression are footholds for the Enemy. No matter the cause of your anxiety or depression or PTSD or any other mental health problem you might have, the Enemy can and will use it to drag you down further away from God — if you let him.
We need to stockpile resources, encouragement, and support for those dark days, weeks, months, years, when we feel like giving in. Scripture helps. Sometimes we need a different perspective on our situation. Sometimes we need to read about someone who went through what we are going through — and how they made it out of the mire with their identities and minds intact. Max Lucado is a Master preacher, writer, and evangelist who has taken the Christian world by storm. Get it here. A pattern I have noticed in my own mental health is that stressors such as fear, Christian books anxiety issues, and change can have a profoundly negative impact on my ability to manage my anxiety and depression. In Girl Meets ChangeKristen Strong looks at change-induced anxiety through a Christian lense and offers anecdotes and scripture to renew strength, joy, and sense of purpose.
This is a beautiful little devotional book. Holley has filled its s with 52 promises from God and encouraging insights on tough life seasons like anxiety, depression, brokenness, distractions, and more.
I have learned that leaning on the promises of God is essential to fighting the spiritual component of Anxiety and Depression, and this book is deed to help you do just that. As a companion piece, she wrote a little book of shareable prayers and promises with easy-tear s so that you can easily encourage someone else who needs it.
Good christian books for dealing with anxiety and stress
When you are in the sludge and slime of your battle with anxiety and depression, it is so easy to feel defective, inadequate, and definitely the opposite of amazing. This is one of those stories. She is honest, open, wise, and so transparent with her struggles — it makes it incredibly easy to relate to her stories. Not only is her writing beautiful, honest, and raw, but this book is one of my favorite Christian books for anxiety and depression. This book is a memoir of her experiences, failures, triumphs, and laughs in the face of mental health problems.
While it is not an overtly christian book for anxiety and depression, It is vulnerable, honest, and real, with actually practical advice on how to make the best of a life with anxiety.
